What We Take Away

Each year we celebrate an old ritual with a beautiful history. We each bring a flower that symbolizes the beauty and uniqueness of our gifts and presence. Together, each of our flowers becomes a bouquet more glorious than any of us could create alone. And then we each take home a different flower than we brought. Because what we receive from this community is never what we brought.

This year, as we also bid farewell to Rev. Elka, this service will be about what we can take away from our 4 years together. What we can hold on to when we are apart. What we have created together that is eternal. Join us to say farewell.

Please bring a flower or we will have some communal flowers to share.

We welcome you, whoever you are, whatever tradition, gender, race, class, sexual identity, ability, or age you represent. May you grow in the ways of respect, service, and wholeness. And through all your days may you know that you are loved.

Join us at Meetinghouse Hill every Sunday at 11am (10am in July/August) either in person in the Sanctuary or in spirit from wherever you may be using this Worship Link.

Family-Friendly Services: Families, we cherish your presence. Bring your children and let them be part of our Worship Service until the Time for All Ages concludes. Following that, they can join their Sunday School teachers. Nursery care is available starting at 10:30 AM each week.

Social Hour: Please join us in the Parish Hall after the service as we come together to honor Rev. Elka’s four years of committed ministry at First Parish Dorchester. Let’s gather together to bid them a heartfelt farewell over coffee and share our appreciation for their time with us.
