Queer Joy: Refueling Our Revolution

Ms. Penny Cost (She/Her/Hers) is not your average, every day, bless-your-heart-ing church lady!

She (as her real-life counterpart, Isaac Simmons, they/them) is reportedly the first Drag Queen in the world to become a Certified Candidate for Ordained Ministry within the United Methodist Church. She is a second-year Master of Divinity student at Boston University School of Theology and a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University.

Ms. Penny has performed and presented to faith-based organizations, universities, and conferences in over 30 states and 3 countries. She has been featured by the likes of NPR, Sojourners Magazine, and the Associated Press! Her artistry is rooted in a uniquely subversive reclamation of faith, showing all around that Queerness and Spirituality are not now, nor have they ever been, diametrically opposed.

If joining by Zoom, please use the regular First Parish Zoom account: https://zoom.us/my/firstparishdot If you attend in person, you are most welcome to join us for fellowship in the Parish Hall afterwards!

We always have nursery care starting at 10:30. Our children start in the sanctuary with their families, then go with their teachers to Sunday School after the Time for All Ages, unless it is an intergenerational service. Recordings of Sunday services can be found later at https://www.firstparishdorchester.org/worship/past-worship-services/
