Memorial Service Information

Having your memorial service at a Unitarian Universalist church gives you the flexibility to create your ceremony with your own personal touches that will make your event special for you.

First Parish Dorchester offers many advantages as a location for a memorial service that are difficult to find, especially in an urban area. In addition to attractive rates and amenities:

• Our church is a registered historic building in a picturesque location,

• We have a small parking lot and plenty of on-street parking.

• Our first-floor function spaces are fully accessible.

• The Sanctuary accessibly seats 400 .  It offers an antique Tracker pipe organ, a piano, and a public address system for basic amplification.

• The Parish Hall offers a 14 1/2’x15 1/2’stage equipped with an Estonia grand piano and complimentary use of 15 rectangular tables and 85 chairs.  In addition, formal round tables and chairs are available to rent.

• The Allen Parlor, adjacent to the Parish Hall with sliding pocket doors, is included as a secondary space with rental of the Hall.

• A serving kitchen is available for plating and serving prepared food. We would happily recommend a caterer who has provided services here at First Parish on many occasions.

• Second floor meeting rooms are available for family preparations

• Our Community Minister may be available to officiate your wedding, though other arrangements may be made as well.  Please contact the Administrator at admin@firstparishdorchester.org for details.

• Our church organist, Dr. Ana Popa, may be available for an additional fee.  She must approve use of the church organ if used by anyone other than she.

• Custodial services for set-up and clean up after the event may be available for an additional fee.
